Beaumont shooting victim dies, suspect in custody
BEAUMONT — A Beaumont man is dead following a drive by shooting Sunday night.
Steven Allen, 25, was shot in the upper torso by a man described by witnesses to be driving a green sports car. The Beaumont Police Department said the shooting occurred at 7:50 p.m. in 2000 block of Delaware.
Neighbors said Allen returned fire with the man in the green car as he ran around his house. Authorities transported Allen to a local hospital where he died.
Officers recovered spent shell casings and a stolen rifle at the scene. BPD also discovered crack and powder cocaine, as well as Xanax at the residence. The street value of the drugs is around $3,000, according to BPD.
A suspect was arrested Monday afternoon. Authorities say the man passed out after learning of the charges against him.
BPD is continuing to investigate the case.
