Inmate takes courthouse hostage with paper gun
BEAUMONT — Andre David Leffebre, 44, took several hostages this morning at the Jefferson County Courthouse with the use of a paper gun, according the Sheriff’s Department.
Leffebre, being held in federal custody for weapons violations, probation violation and bank robbery, was being detained on the fourth floor of the courthouse when at 8:30 a.m. he displayed what appeared to be a hand-gun to a GEO corrections officer.
Negotiations soon ensued and through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. and Beaumont Police Department’s S.W.A.T. Teams, Leffebre was apprehended without incident.
The courthouse reopened at 9:30 a.m.
