Joshua Bush trial begins

BEAUMONT - Testimony began Tuesday morning for a trial that brought national attention to a Port Arthur man.

Joshua Bush is on trial for aggravated robbery and retaliation against a witness. The case is being heard in Judge John Stevens' courtroom.

Prosecutors contend Bush was involved in an attempted robbery at Olive used car lot in July 2006. Police said shots were fired and the business owner returned fire striking Bush in the forehead. The bullet remains in Bush's head.

The defendant says a friend accidentally shot him.

Prosecutor Ramon Rodriguez called Port Arthur Police officers Regan Sweat and John Mays to the stand to speak about the night of the crime.
