Emergency grant to assist dislocated Texas workers

The U.S. Department of Labor has a awarded a National Emergency Grant, through the Workforce Investment Act. Texas will receive $15.8 for workers dislocated by Hurricane Ike.

The following Texas counties will be covered: Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Cherokee, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller and Washington.

The project will create temporary employment to assist in clean-up and recovery efforts as a result of Hurricane Ike and provide food, clothing, shelter and other types of humanitarian assistance to disaster victims.
