Law enforcement officials with Chambers County have released a description of a suspected Hurricane Ike victim found over the weekend.
The badly decomposed body was discovered in a wooded area east of Hwy. 562 about four miles north of Smith Point in southern Chambers County.
An autopsy, conducted by the Jefferson County medical examiner, indicate the victim was a female between the ages of 30 to 50 years old, 5’ 3” to 5’ 7” tall with brown to blonde hair.
The victim had upper dentures and dental work to the lower teeth. She also had undergone a past surgery to the right knee in which a metal plate and four screws had been inserted into the lower leg, just below the knee.
Clothing found with the body included a green T-shirt with a design on the front that included the words “House of Blues Orlando” and a pair of green plaid “Joe Boxer” brand boxer shorts.
Chambers County officials are working with authorities in Galveston County and the Laura recovery Center to identify the victim.
Hurricane Ike struck Galveston County Sept. 12, totally devastating Bolivar Peninsula up the coast to Sabine Pass.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chamber County Sheriff’s Office at 409-267-8318.
