PORT ARTHUR —
Port Arthur firefighters raced across town tackling three suspicious fires in a two hour period on Wednesday.
The first of the fires, which occurred at 800 12th Avenue, was reported at 1:23 a.m. May 30. On arrival, crews found a small fire inside the structure and quickly extinguished it, PAFD Battalion Chief Mike Free said in a press release.
The second fire was reported at 1:56 a.m. at 1000 Pecos Avenue. The first engine on scene reported heavy fire through the roof of a vacant house and there was exposures on both sides of the structure. Both of those homes sustained damage. One of those home was occupied and the other one was under renovation. Four engine companies and one ladder company took two hours to extinguish the fire.
While at the fire on Pecos, crews noticed heavy fire two blocks away in the 4800 block of Seventh Street. The fire was coming from a vacant apartment complex. Five engines and one ladder company responded and when they arrived on scene both stories of the two story building were fully involved in fire.
There were no injuries in any of the fires and all three fires are suspicious in nature.
