PORT ARTHUR —
Motiva Port Arthur officially began a new era for oil refining in Texas and North America on Thursday after taking the final steps of a expansion project that will make the refinery the largest in North America.
After the $10 Billion overhaul brought 40,000 truckloads of concrete, 322 prefabricated modules and over 700 miles of metal pipe to the existing petro-chemical plant, which will now have the capability to process 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
The fuel produced in one day would be enough to fuel 400,000 cars or 267 Boeing 747 airplanes from Los Angeles to New York City.
