Excel Screenprinting may add Nederland store

NEDERLAND — Excel Screenprinting is proposing to add another location to its already successful business.

Excel, once located in Nederland, currently has a spot in Central Mall in Port Arthur as well as stores at Parkdale Mall in Beaumont and Prien Lake Mall in Lake Charles, La. The owners are now seeking to open a store at 3105 Nederland Avenue.

The Nederland Economic Development Corporation will hold a public hearing regarding the expenditure of funds for economic development for a new retail store, Imprint Studios/Excel Screenprinting to be located at 3105 Nederland Ave., in Nederland. The public hearing is set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the NEDC office, 1903 Atlanta Ave.

Following the public hearing NEDC board members will consider action on the issue.

The NEDC board is also set to review and discuss its current financial status during the meeting.

Board members are also set to review and consider the proposed transfer of about half-an-acre of land from the NEDC to the city of Nederland. The property is located in the vicinity of 12th Street and Atlanta Avenue.

City leaders declined to comment on the proposed use for the land on Tuesday.
