A tornado watch is likely to be issued this morning for all of our region, for the severe weather threat this afternoon, Roger Erickson, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Lake Charles reported in a Monday morning weather update.
Widely scattered showers are now developing across the region, but as a cold front approaches from the west, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop.
For southeast Texas, large hail is the primary threat, although damaging winds or an isolated tornado are also possible, mainly between 10 am and 2 pm Monday.
For southwest Louisiana, large hail is the primary threat, although damaging winds or an isolated tornado are also possible, mainly between noon and 4 pm Monday.
For central Louisiana, large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are the primary threats, mainly between noon and 4 pm.
For south central Louisiana, large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are the primary threats, mainly between 2 pm and 6 pm.
