PORT ARTHUR —
Police have released the name of a woman who was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday.
The deceased is identified as Rita Sue Joseph, 54, of Port Arthur.
Port Arthur Police responded to the wreck at about 1:50 p.m. Feb. 24 at the intersection of Ray and Texas 73, according to PAPD Maj. Raymond Clark. According to witnesses, a man and his family were traveling on Texas 73 in a 2009 Ford F-150 truck when a 2002 Impala driven by Joseph reportedly disregarded a stop sign.
The vehicles became locked due to the collision and spun around, he said. The victim was thrown from the vehicle during the incident and was deceased when officers arrived.
The driver of the truck was not cited.
