Perry to renew campaign for spending growth limit

— Gov. Rick Perry is renewing his campaign for tighter restrictions on the growth of state spending.

In a statement issued by his office Tuesday, Perry said he wants the Legislature to put before state voters a proposal to limit the growth of government spending constitutionally. The proposal would limit spending growth to the rate of the state’s population growth combined with the rate of inflation.

Perry is scheduled to describe the plan to the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday afternoon.
