Residents in the Hickory Street area have already voiced concern over using a field along 32nd street as a storage site for a multi-billion dollar Total project, saying action would be too close to their homes. Pat Avery, administration manager, said this new proposal would keep activity an additional 600 feet away from homes.
Council set a public hearing on the new proposal for Monday, Feb. 4, following the councils regular 5:30 p.m. meeting. Also at that night, council voted to conduct a joint public hearing regarding amending city code ordinances.
D.E. Sosa, city manager, said the wording on some ordinances in antiquated and should have similar terminology with that of other cities. This would include changing terms such as manufacturing to heavy commercial.
Council also set a joint public hearing in regard to David Gisselbergs request to rezone Lot 36 of the Garden Farms Addition from a retail business district to a general commercial district. This hearing is set for Thursday, Feb. 14, following a Groves City Council work session.
