John Wayne Fontenot, 70, left his beloved mountain home on April 23, 2012. He was born on July 19, 1941, in Jefferson County, Texas and was the only son of John Emery and Mary Myrtle Fontenot. He was married on June 21, 1963 to Carole Dominguez. John was a very simple man who loved the outdoors and in July of 1982, he followed his dream and moved from Texas to Colorado where he enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting and experiencing the many outdoor activities of his true home. He retired from Colorado Springs Utilities as an Instrument Electrician. He is survived by his wife, Carole; daughter and son-in-law, Kandi and Kevin Anthony of Colorado Springs; daughter and son-in-law Jonette and Clay Ford of Kewanee, Il; grandchildren Aaron Ford, Allyson Ford, Krista Ford and Matthew Anthony; and sisters Janis Parks of Port Arthur, TX and D’Juana Van Marion of Nederland, TX. John was preceded in death by his parents John Emery and Mary Myrtle Fontenot and his granddaughter Callie Rose Ford. Per John’s wishes, a private service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
