PORT ARTHUR —
Norvel Dorsey, 74, of Port Neches, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
He was born in Groves, Texas on July 29, 1938 to Harris J. Dorsey, Sr. and Olga McBride Dorsey.
Norvel was a lifelong resident of Port Neches and member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus # 2461, and a 4th Degree Knight #7110.
He was an engineering specialist with Onboard at the Dupont project and recently retired from Pipefitters Local #195 after 55 years as the oldest member.
Norvel was a devoted father and adoring grandfather. He loved football, especially the PNG Indians, and was an avid outdoorsman, and always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Monsignor Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited by the Port Neches Knights of Columbus to begin at 6:00 p.m.
Norvel is survived by three daughters, Julie Dorsey of Port Neches, Deanna LeDoux and husband, Britt, of Kingwood, and Lori Dorsey Melancon of Port Neches, sister, Betty Coufal of Kingwood, four brothers, Harris Dorsey, Jr. and wife, Colleen of Port Neches, Tommy Dorsey and wife, Mary of Lumberton, Ronald Dorsey and wife, Mechelle of Austin, and Donald Dorsey of Austin, and five grandchildren, Timothy Rozell, Darcy and Blake LeDoux, Lauren Gregory-Campbell and Kelli Melancon.
