BRIDGE CITY —
Oneida Agnes Vinecour, 94, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away at her home on Thursday, June 28, 2012.
She was born on October 16, 1917 to Gertrude Wooldridge Thorn and Ernest Eugene Thorn in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of the area. Oneida worked as registered nurse for several hospitals over her 65 years of service, with her last 16 years as Surgery Supervisor at Mid-Jefferson Hospital. She served in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps during WWII. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Arthur.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church. A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Bell, officiating. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors in Groves. Floral arrangements may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 Canal on Tuesday prior to the service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister and her husband, Seymour Vinecour.
She is survived by her son, Jay Vinecour of Port Arthur, Texas, her daughter, Becky Shelby and husband Gerald of Cedar Park, Texas, two grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Shelby of Cedar Park, Texas along with many friends who will truly miss her.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mary McKenna and the staff of Southeast Texas Hospice in Orange for their true compassion and care.
