PORT ARTHUR — Carl Joseph Gray was born in Jersey City, NJ on January 12, 1969. He resided in Port Arthur, TX for 38 years. He passed away on April 30, 2012 in Beaumont, TX at the age of 43. Carl was a 1987 graduate of Lincoln High School and worked as fencer for his former employee A-1 Maida Fence Company in Beaumont, Texas. He was also a talented barber. Carl loved to talk about the Lord and the things He brought him through (his walk with Christ). Carl Joseph Gray was a loving father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin Sr. and Joe Ann Gray; Tracy Jefferson Adams (mother of his daughter), one sister LaTonga’ Ayers. Carl is survived by his daughter, Desiree’ Gray; first grandson (Dreylin) yet to be born; 4 sisters, Yolonda Dickerson (Joseph), Jeszelle Morris (Sam), Tarcha Stephens (Cedric Sr.) all of Port Arthur, TX and Beverly Grevious of Houston, TX; 4 brothers Martin Gray, Jr., Terrence Gray Sr. (Kimberly), Harold Gray (Andrea) and Eric Gray (Regina); brother-in-law, Lester Ayers all of Port Arthur, TX; special friend Pat Jefferson (grandmother of his daughter) of Port Arthur, TX; 7 aunts, Gladys Charles, Gloria Dryer, Mary Washington, Betty Outlaw, Billie Gray, Terry Gray and Lynn Gray; 6 nieces, 9 nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Carl’s funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Historic Israel A.M.E. Church, 948 Freeman Avenue in Port Arthur, with the viewing from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
