Winnie —   James Donald “Don” Guidry, 71, of Winnie died March 7, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

   Don was a native of Port Arthur, Texas and had lived in the Winnie area since 1978. He worked as a chemical engineer for the Texaco/Huntsman Company before he retired. Don was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, a former member of the RCIA team, helped lead the rosary before Mass, member of the Sacred Heart Prayer Group and a 4th Degree Knight of St. Martin Council 3456 Winnie, Texas. He loved to cook for family and friends and share his recipes, loved his family and adored his grandchildren who called him “Poppa”. Don was a United States Marine veteran and very proud of his military service and his country.

   A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Broussard’s with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.

   Don is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Guidry of Winnie; children, James Donald “Beau” Guidry, Jr. and his wife Christi of Port Arthur, David Edward Guidry and his wife Nicole of San Antonio, Daniel Patrick Guidry and his wife Sara of Beaumont, Deanne Marie Guidry of Austin, Matthew Douglas Guidry of Llano; nephews, James Russell Guidry of Dallas, Paul Bradley Guidry of Amarillo; eight grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas 77665.
