Galveston, TX —
David LeeTegge, 58, of Galveston, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at UTMB Hospital. David was born February 8, 1954 in Dallas and was raised in Port Neches. He graduated from Port Neches-Groves HS in 1972 and attended Lamar University and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
David loved life. He traveled the world extensively, loved boating and water skiing on the Port Neches River, celebrations spent with family in Taylor, and his beach house at Crystal Beach.
Anywhere a party could be had, David was there. He loved everyone, unconditionally; a stranger was never a stranger long around David.
He was here only to please. In return, his pleasure came from the smiles of others, from a kind word, a hug. He never was afraid to hug, never was afraid to say "I love you!" His dogs were his true love, his first dog Spot, Susie, the schnauzer who never left his side, and Charlie, with him at the end, all experienced the kind of love only David could give.
As he grew older, illness attempted to sabotage his body, but he wouldn't let it take over his life. He became stronger, more determined, and more eager to share his love for family, friends and good times with all.
He was a man with fun constantly in his eyes, love always in his heart, care in his hands and joy in his spirit. He was as caring a man as one could ever meet.
David was preceded in death by his father, Melvin in 1970, his mother, the strength in his life, Esther Lilly Rose just this past January, and his beloved dog Susie.
He is survived by his partner and best friend, Fred Josephson of Galveston; brother, Russell Tegge and wife, Bonnie of Bridge City; nephews Justin Tegge of LaPorte and JakeTegge of Austin.
He is also survived by aunt, Loretta Lang and husband John David of Austin; uncle Teddy Hejl and wife Kay of Taylor; uncle, Stanley Tegge and wife, Imogene; cousins Gene Greenlees and wife Wendy of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Leanna Bergland, Laura Lang, Ellen Sterin, Jennifer George, Alice Hejl, Wallace Tegge, Beverly Selby, Lillian Slater, and Howard and Robert Lee Leshikar.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 21st, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston, Texas with the Rev. Ray Pinard officiating.
