PORT ARTHUR —
Anthony “Mr. Fish” Alexander, 68, of Port Arthur, Texas, departed this life on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his home in Port Arthur, Texas. He has been a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School Class of 1961. After working 51 years he retired at the age of 65. Anthony was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was an “Expert” fisherman.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Alexander.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Ruby Alexander; two sons, Anthony Alexander, Jr. (Tomeka) , and Timothy Alexander (DeVeren), both of Port Arthur, Texas; two daughters, Andrea Tongue (Kenneth), and Edolia “Denise” Anderson (Demar) both of Port Arthur; Twelve grandchildren, Brandon Smith of Minnesota, Courtney and Angelique Alexander, Avia Alexander, Kenneth Jr. and Kaylynn Tongue, Timothy Jr. and Taylor Alexander, Devaun, Denisha, Demeria, and Dekarra Anderson all of Port Arthur, and Brittany Alexander of Katy, Texas; 4 great grandchildren, Ayannah and Jadon Smith, of Minnesota, Cailey Williams, and Anjori Alexander of Port Arthur, Texas. Two brothers, Joseph Alexander of Dallas, Texas, Patrick Alexander (Daphne) of Port Arthur, Texas; five sisters, Sandarell Alexander, Carolyn Hilstock, Jocelyn Butler, Shyrell Jean Allen (Roy), Patricia Pierre (Theron) all of Port Arthur, Texas: one aunt Earnestine Dumas of Port Arthur, Texas; three brothers-in-law, Tyrrell Gary (Sarah) of Port Arthur, Herman Gary Jr. (Janet) of Houston, Texas, Stephen Gary of Port Arthur, Texas, two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Blanchette (Jerone), Geraldine Ward (Donnie), both of California; adopted brothers and sisters, Jesse Thomas (Mamie), Alton Duhon and Curtis Morris Jr., and Sue “Thelma” James; a host of special friends, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A home-going celebration for Anthony Alexander will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2011 with a visitation from 9am to 11am, and rosary at 10am. The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 620 53rd St. in Port Arthur, Texas with Father Sinclair Oubre officiating with interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
