PORT ARTHUR —
Laura Jane Rose, 70 departed this life Monday, April 16, 2012, after a courageous battle of a lengthy illness. She was born March 3, 1942 to the late Houston & Almaise Rose of Ville Platte, LA and was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, TX. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, son, Billy Sonnier, Sr., sister, Mary (Duce) Campbell.
She loved worshiping, spending time with her family, attending to those “rose” bushes (flowers), cooking and eating good food.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughter Melissa Bernard (Mark), sons, Patrick Joseph, Carby Rose (Tammy), Kenneth Keys (Shenita) all of Port Arthur, TX; and Leroy Burney III (Roslyn) of Kansas City, MO, brother, Leroy Rose (Renella) of Ville Platte, LA; sisters Edmonia Rose of Ville Platte, LA, Theresa Jack of Houston, TX, Hilda Joseph (Jay Roy) of Winnie, TX; 8 grandchildren, Brooke Bernard, Jazmine Bernard, Billy Sonnier Jr., Markiese Cohea, Brandon Jones, Brian Jones, Ashley Jones, and Courtney Jones; 1 god child, Loretta Bias; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Sacred Heart-St. Mary Parish Church with a visitation from 8 a.m. until service time and the rosary at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
