CORNELL W. BROWN: Feeding at the trough of Rush, Bill and Glenn

PORT ARTHUR — The Feb. 25 Letters To The Editor in “The News” gave me an eye opener that made me smile and think of an old adage.  It goes something like this:  “It is better to remain silent and let people wonder of your intelligence than to speak (in this case write) and remove all doubt.”  Granted, I don't know Jack Herford from beans but I can say that it is now considered a blessing that I don't!  His “Time to fact the facts, think for yourself” article was the bomb!  But I'm digressing or better yet I'm doing as you are Jack and speaking of someone that I did not do due diligence on and learn stuff about him!  Here I go again Nita.

You and others seem to overlook the importance of “reading a prisoner his rights” Jack!  It's not done out of stupidity or weakness but rather as a certainty that the prisoner isn't released on a technicality!  You see Jack, under our constitution, all trials are to be done fairly and impartial!  That's what makes America unique! It's called doing it the right way to get the bad guy.

You are right about Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan but your view is vague!  It was necessary to end the war that way but your implication of his making a “snap” decision is as ridiculous as the rest of your article.  Jack, read up on how hard and long Truman thought on that issue before authorizing it!  He didn't just say “Let's drop the bomb on 'em, boys” and go play a round of golf.  It's amazing the amount of thought you and others of your kind give to come up with the crazy logic behind your words and actions.

From the deepest darkest caves you guys emerge after having fed off of the “bull” that Rush, Bill, Glenn and the other highly paid loud-mouths nurture you guys with and are showing the world that you wasted the money spent on your education.    You see, ol' Rush, Bill and the boys feed off of folks like you who function in a vacuum and believe that pigs can fly if those good ol' boys say so!  Broaden your “informational sources” and you'll discover that the things coming out of those “fat cats” mouths aren't true!  Where have you and your kind been Jack to not have known that the “bail-out” was a Bush product, that the economy crashed during his term and that Bush involved “us” in two wars that he didn't produce ways to finance them?  These were Bush productions that President Obama inherited and as it is known in a “capitalist society”, it will take money to dig us out!  And by the way Jack, the Repubican party had been in control of our government for eight years and that should explain it for you right there!

I'm sure that Mr. Spooner appreciates your linking him with Keith Olberman & Rachel Maddow because these two individuals tell the truth and have the proof to support their statements.  Unlike Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck, those “radical liberals” Olberman & Maddow aren't out to “cripple” the public's mind but to give factual dialogue to the events in question.  Both Keith and Rachel can also do their show without “bouncing” up and down as if they need some medication as ol' Rush does!  Heck, Rush acts as if he's “loaded” on all of his shows!  To me, Mr. Spooner is right in saying that folks of your vent don't think for themselves but rely on Rush, Bill & etc. to think for them.  Know also Jack, that Jesus Christ was once considered to be a “radical liberal” so maybe folks like us (liberals & radical liberals) are in great company!  Then too, maybe Mr. Spooner's writings were above your level and you guys can't comprehend what he is saying but if one references his writing to your own article, his point is well made.

You may be right about Mr. Morgan's coaching record but I'm sure that your analogy of his record to that of President Obama's is as far as the east is from the west.  Having to deal with Repubicans who are not the least concerned about you and me but rather keeping their “office” and therefore they oppose every move toward “helping the working man”, President Obama will have hell getting them to work with him.  Therein, they are the “Party of No”.  Many of them decry the “bail out” but then they are taking photos at whatever project the “bail-out” has produced in their district knowing fully where the money came from.  It's been found that those who view the world through very dark and cloudy eyeglasses do indeed watch the Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh type shows for it is easier than for them to search for the facts themselves - due diligence Jack!  It's like another old saying:  “What a fool believes he sees” and finding anything of intelligence coming from those guys does indeed foster foolishness!  In the words of the CEO of Fox News, “We are in the entertainment business not the factual one”!  As for censorship, President Bush authorized such things as “warrantless searches”, freedom to tap your phone and computer and deny YOU the right to a fair trial if you “look” to be “unique”!  Don't ask Rush or Sean, for they only help the true Repubican - the rich and the very, very rich!

Now may I ask you something Jack?  Were President Obama a white Democratic Party President would he be getting all this flak from the Repubicans and the rest of the country!  Heck, Bush tore up the economy and placed our soldiers in wars that he didn't provide financial support for yet you and your kind skip and dance and make ridiculous statements about being great Americans along with spouting about how “morally correct” you guys are (recall the Repubican official who sought males in the toilet) as if all the problems of our country came about on January 20, 2009!  And don't tell me that I'm playing the race card Jack for if I am, I learned it from those outside my environmental sphere!  President Jimmy Carter said it correctly when he inferred that (paraphrased): “The only reason that President Obama is getting so much of a hassle is due to his (Obama) being black”!  Try to understand Jack that America is not the total domain of white Repubicans for it was built on the backs of a multitude of races!  I fought in a war (Vietnam - Bronze Star) so I view it as a positive thought to think that my kind can finally look forward to sharing in the fruits of this nation!

I'll cease my little recourse and hope that some value has been developed through this “encounter” but only time will tell!  This last national election showed that the country was ready for and needed a change so it was done!  Should the present administration fail (failure with both sides working together) then they too should be replaced but do so for reasons other than hate and fear of the unknown!  Oh yes, you should truly take the title of your article to its fullest range and rid yourself of those “good ol' boys” who seem to provide most of the nonsense that come from ya'll!  Have a great day Jack and get some of your fellow “conservative Repubicans” (are there other types) to join you in resting so as to ease the strain of life!
