PORT ARTHUR —
The Port Arthur Symphony Club, an affiliate of the Federated Women's Clubs, presented a $500 scholarship to Elora Michel, at their recent meeting. Elora Michel is a vocal performance major in the Commercial Music Department at Lamar State College-Port Arthur who is to graduate in the fall of 2011. She presented vocal selections at the Department Club of Port Arthur at its meeting at Rose Hill. The president of the Symphony Club, Carolyn Martinez, made the presentation.
Mavis Triebel, Scholarship Chairman of the Symphony Club, met with Dr. Kristel Kemmerer, Commercial Music Department Chair, in the selection of Elora for this scholarship. Jill Kares, instructor of vocal majors, accompanied Elora in her presentation.
