Months of campaigning are now at an end as voters in Port Neches go to the polls to elect a person for the Place 4 seat on city council.
Incumbent Don Anglin and his opponent Robert Arnold are both appreciative of the support the community has shown them.
“It’s been a clean election and actually fun,” Anglin said. “I want to thank everybody for voting. If I’m defeated I can honestly say I’ve been very pleased and very blessed to have been able to serve the city as long as I have. I just love our little city and am dedicated to it. Whether reelected or not I’m here for the community.”
Arnold also thanked the voters who went to the polls to cast their ballots in the city election. He said he encountered some people who didn’t know the city election had been moved to November and that there were two early voting locations — one for the city election and one for the state and national election.
“Tomorrow (Tuesday) voters can go to their precinct and vote in the city election as well as the general election,” Arnold said.
Anglin, 66, is a Realtor who has been on city council for 18 years. He has served on the Appeal and Adjustments Board, on the Planning and Zoning Board and served as mayor pro tem for seven years.
Arnold, 58, is a retired Port Neches Police officer with 29 years of service to the department. After retiring from PNPD he worked as an office manager at Arnold and Associates.
Councilmembers in Port Neches serve staggered three-year terms and all elected officials are voted at-large.
A total of 711 people in the city took advantage of early voting in the city election, Jamie Louviere, city secretary, said. Last year’s early voting totals came in at 1,060 during which two seats were up for grabs.
Voting on Election Day will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

Precincts 38 and 40 — Port Neches Middle School, 749 Central Drive, Port Neches
Precincts 9 and 41 — Hebert Library, 2025 Merriman St., Port Neches
