DAVID COLEMAN: How area players fared in college games

PORT ARTHUR — Here are the efforts by former Southeast Texas players in the collegiate ranks over the Oct. 13 weekend. Players are included when they record statistics, start the game or reach career milestones. Players who are being redshirted or do not play are not included.

Four Year Colleges

Michael Barnes, Missouri Valley College, DB (Central): Barnes had five tackles and one fumble recovery in the 42-26 victory over Benedictine College, giving him 35 tackles this season.

Trevor Bell, Columbia, WR (Hamshire-Fannett): Bell returned one kickoff for 20 yards in the 24-20 loss to Penn. The freshman has averaged 23.5 yards per kickoff return this season.

Harry Brown, Texas Southern, WR (Memorial): Brown had four catches for 42 yards in the 34-7 loss to Southern. The senior has 18 catches for 221 yards and a TD this season.

Joshua Chatman, McMurry, WR (West Brook): Chatman had four catches for 37 yards in the 52-21 loss to Lamar. The senior has 18 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown this season.

Blake Chavis, Lamar, DL (West Brook): Chavis had three tackles, including a sack, in the 52-21 victory over McMurry. The senior has 14 tackles, including two for a loss, one sack and a quarterback hit this season.

DePauldrick Garrett, Lamar, RB (West Orange-Stark): Garrett had 104 yards and a touchdown in the 52-21 victory over McMurry. The junior has 232 rushing yards and a TD this season.

Jordan Garrett, Lamar, DB (West Brook): Garrett had one tackle in the 52-21 victory over McMurry, giving him 18 tackles this season.

Kyle Gillam, Lamar, OL (Lumberton): Gillam started at center in the 52-21 victory over McMurry.

Ben Goodman, Kansas, DE (West Brook): Goodman had one tackle in the 20-14 loss to Oklahoma State, giving him eight tackles this season.

Ryan Grant, Tulane, WR (West Brook): Grant had one catch for 28 yards in the 27-26 victory over Southern Methodist. The senior has 25 catches for 359 yards and two TDs this season.

Adrian Guillory, Lamar, DB (Central): Guillory led the Cardinals with seven tackles and a pass breakup in the 52-21 victory over McMurry. The senior has 24 tackles, including one for a loss, and five PBUs this season.

Jacoby Hale, Utah, LB (Central): Hale had seven tackles, including one for a loss, in the 21-14 loss to UCLA, giving him 23 tackles this season.

David Hollyfield, Lamar, DL (Silsbee): Hollyfield had three tackles, including one for a loss, in the 52-21 victory over McMurry, giving him eight tackles this season.

William Jones, Lamar, LB (Central): Jones had three tackles and a sack in the 52-21 victory over McMurry, giving him six tackles this season.

Marcus Malbrough, Lamar, DL (West Brook): Malbrough had three tackles, a sack and a quarterback hit in the 52-21 victory over McMurry. The senior has 13 tackles, one sack and four quarterback hits this season.

Shane McCardell, Mississippi State, DE (West Brook): McCardell had one tackle in the 41-31 victory over Tennessee, giving him three tackles this season.

Vance McDonald, Rice, TE (East Chambers): McDonald had one catch for 10 yards in the 34-14 victory over Texas-San Antonio. The senior has 18 catches for 239 yards and a touchdown this season.

Christine Michael, Texas A&M, RB (West Brook): Michael had 12 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown in the 59-57 victory over No. 23 Louisiana Tech. The senior has 169 rushing yards and four TDs this season.

Mark Murrill, Lamar, DT (Lumberton): Murrill had three tackles and two quarterback hits in the 52-21 victory over McMurry, giving him 24 tackles this season.

Keith O'Neal, Missouri Valley College, RB (Central): O’Neal had nine carries for 20 yards in the 42-26 victory over Benedictine College. The junior has 192 rushing yards and one TD this season.

John Prescott, Lamar, DL (Ozen): Prescott had two tackles, a sack and a pass breakup in the 52-21 victory over McMurry. The senior has 18 tackles, one sack and three PBUs this season.

Chris Raggett, McNeese State, S (Ozen): Raggett had three tackles, including one for a loss, in the 27-26 loss to Central Arkansas, giving him 16 tackles this season.

Taylor Reed, Southern Methodist, LB (West Brook): Reed had five tackles, including one for a loss, in the 27-26 loss to Tulane, giving him 37 tackles this season.

Bruce Reyes, Missouri Valley College, QB (West Brook): Reyes completed 18 of 31 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns in the 42-26 victory over Benedictine College. The sophomore has 859 passing yards and six touchdowns this season.

Jarrian Rhone, West Texas A&M, WR (Silsbee): Rhone led the Buffaloes with nine catches for 106 yards, including a 75-yard TD, in the 36-0 victory over Abilene Christian. The redshirt freshman has 13 catches for 135 yards and a TD this season.

Elandon Roberts, Morgan State, LB (Memorial): Roberts made eight tackles and had one sack in the 24-20 loss to North Carolina Central, giving him 53 tackles this season.

Branden Thomas, Lamar, DB (Central): Thomas had four tackles, two interceptions, including a 53-yard TD return, and one pass breakup in the 52-21 victory over McMurry. The junior has 25 tackles, three interceptions and eight PBUs this season.

Seth Thomas, McNeese State, CB (West Orange-Stark): Thomas had eight tackles, an interception and one pass breakup in the 27-26 loss to Central Arkansas. The senior has 23 tackles, one interception, three PBUs and one quarterback hit this season.

Joseph Viator, Lamar, LB (Little Cypress-Mauriceville): Viator made one tackle in the 52-21 victory over McMurry, giving him two tackles this season.

Steven White, Texas Southern, DB (Memorial): White made three tackles in the 34-7 loss to Southern, giving him 19 tackles this season.
