PN-G capsule: The Indians close the regular season on the road for the second straight season and the third time in three years. They beat Beaumont Central in each of the past three years to close the season. The last time PN-G lost its final game of the regular season was in 2008, when it fell 18-0 to Central. … If the Indians lose to Livingston this week, they’ll close the season with a 1-6 district record and a six-game losing streak …. PN-G won the first three meetings with Livingston, but is just 1-3 in the four games since. After Livingston joined the Indians’ district in 2008, the Lions are 3-1 in games against the Indians and 2-1 all-time in games at Lion Stadium. … Spencer Wommack leads the Indians in rushing, gaining 339 yards on 88 carries. Quarterback A.J. Smith is close behind, gaining 330 yards 79 carries with seven TDs. … Junior receiver Jeremiah Rose seems to have locked down the district title in receiving, catching 57 passes for 624 yards and four TDs. It is the third straight season PN-G has had a receiver with 50 or more catches.
Livingston capsule: The Lions are in a different situation than last season. Livingston has to win this week to avoid finishing with a losing record, but has already assured itself a playoff spot. Last season, the Lions went 7-3 overall but missed out on the postseason when Beaumont Ozen made a furious comeback to sneak in. … Livingston is led offensively by quarterback Chevoski Collins. The University of Texas commit is eighth in the district in rushing yards with 530 and 11 TDs. He has also thrown for 506 yards and five TDs while averaging a whopping 15.8 yards per completion. … Lion running back Marquise Thomas is the team’s leading rusher with 620 yards on 130 carries with eight TDs. Senior Damion Collins is also part of a potent backfield with 481 rushing yards of his own and four TDs. … Only Vidor has more rushing yards than Livingston’s 1,922 yards this season in District 20-4A. … The Lions are also second in the district with 11 interceptions.
Faircloth said: “The more you see (the Slot T), the more it helps. Livingston is a lot more shotgun this year. They’ve changed it up this year. That’s what’s tough about them, because they’ll get in and out of both offenses in the middle of a drive. You have to really get your kids ready for it. They have a bunch of seniors on defense. I think they’ve got nine seniors on that side of the ball. They’re fast and athletic and just a really good group on that side of the ball.”
