MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. —
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been asked to provide a sample of his DNA to investigators looking into an accusation by a college student that he sexually assaulted her at a nightclub here last week.
Police Chief Woodrow Blue announced the latest development in the widely-watched case at a news conference Monday afternoon at the Milledgeville City Hall. He was accompanied by Tom Davis, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent in charge of the case.
Blue said he did not expect resistance from Roethlisberger to the DNA request, adding that the National Football League star and the friends with him the night of the alleged assault “are helping in the investigation.”
A 20-year-old female student at Georgia College & State University reported to a police officer on patrol outside of the Capital City nightclub at 2 a.m. Friday that she had been sexually assaulted by Roethlisberger inside the club.
