Port Arthur Memorial's John Leday commits to Houston
Port Arthur senior wide receiver John Leday committed to the University of Houston, according to Port Arthur Memorial head coach Kenny Harrison.
Leday was a two-year starter for the Titans. He was Memorial's leading receiver last season with 49 catches for 587 yards and four TDs.In his Titan career, Leday became the fourth player in school history with 70 or more catches and 1,000 or more yards, finishing with 73 catches for 1,011 yards and six TDs.
Leday is the fifth Titan to verbally commit to a school this year, joining receiver Brandon Leday (Morgan State) and defensive backs Devin Cockrell (Morgan State), Jalen Barnes (Iowa State) and Darius Lemora (Washington State). He's the third player to commit to an FBS school after the Titans had four players sign with FBS schools last season. This year's group of seniors should at least equal that number, as defensive tackle Matthew Romar has offers from a number of FBS schools but has not made a decision yet.
Houston adds the talented Leday to a receiving corps that already features one Golden Triangle member. West Orange-Stark's Mark Roberts, a sophomore at Houston last season, caught nine passes for 119 yards and a TD last season for the Cougars.
The first day players can officially sign with schools is Feb. 6.
