PORT NECHES —
Port Neches-Groves baseball coach Mark Brevell is being investigated by the school after a recording surfaced on YouTube of him yelling at his players earlier this week.
The video, posted Tuesday to the popular video-sharing site YouTube, featured Brevell's rant, which was filled with expletives, according to reports. Athletic director and head football coach Brandon Faircloth said the school became aware of the situation on Tuesday and is following the same guidelines as with any other school employee and that there could be a resolution from the investigation by early next week.
The baseball team has continued to work out this week under direction of the assistant coaches and will open play on Tuesday when the Indians host Bridge City.
Brevell is entering his third season at the helm of the Indians after taking over for Jay Stone after the 2010 season. Brevell was an assistant coach under Stone and has a career record of 37-16 at PN-G. Last season, the Indians finished with a perfect 14-0 district record and won the 20-4A title outright. — David Coleman
