Memorial moves into 21-5A second-place tie
BEAUMONT — The Port Arthur Memorial boys basketball team used strong first and fourth quarters to shoot into second place with a 59-50 victory over Beaumont West Brook Tuesday in District 21-5A play.
Memorial (13-10, 3-2) is now tied with West Brook and Channelview for second place behind undefeated district leader North Shore.
The Titans were led by sophomore post Dorian Chatman, who had 24. Teammates Torian Lott and Joseph Williams each had 10.
Memorial will host La Porte at 7 p.m. Friday while West Brook travels to Baytwon Sterling.

PN-G boys lose on buzzer beater
PORT NECHES — Demasters Sam hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send Beaumont Ozen past Port Neches-Groves 47-44 Tuesday in District 20-4A play.
PN-G (8-14, 3-3 District 20-4A) went 12 for 13 from the free-throw line, but was outscored 33-22 in the second half by the Panthers. Brandon Pham led the Indians with 15 points while Jordan Hunter had 17 for Ozen.
The Indians will travel to Livingston at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Nederland boys glide by Lumberton
LUMBERTON — The Nederland boys basketball team routed Lumberton 64-31 on Tuesday in District 20-4A play.
Nederland (19-7, 5-1 District 20-4A) was led in scoring by Zach English and Colton Weisbrod, who each had 12 points. Teammates Jared Lorimier and Alex Taylor each had 10.
The Bulldogs will host Beaumont Central at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
