Bulldogs get road win at Vidor
VIDOR — The Nederland baseball team opened District 20-4A play in style, beating Vidor 8-1 on Tuesday.
Nederland (11-2, 1-0) was led by Mitchell Sanderson, who had a great all-around game. Sanderson picked up the victory on the mound with a complete-game, six-hitter while striking out seven.
Sanderson also led the offense, hitting a home run and driving in two RBIs. Also hitting doubles for Nederland were Gabe Nevala, Brian Feltman, and Jared Ramoin while Michael Shaw stole a base.
Nederland will host Livingston at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
PN-G baseball loses district opener
PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves baseball team lost 5-1 to Lumberton on Tuesday in District 20-4A play.
PN-G (5-9, 0-1 in 20-4A) struck out nine batters as a team, but walked 11 and had three errors in the loss. Lance Ledoux started for the Indians and took the loss.
Dillon Hebert knocked in the Indians’ only run with a double in the fourth inning that scored Logan Ashworth.
The Indians will travel to Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorial falls to Deer Park
DEER PARK — The Port Arthur Memorial baseball team lost 10-0 to Deer Park on Tuesday in District 21-5A play.
Memorial (7-6, 0-1 in 21-5A) will host Channelview at 7 p.m. Friday.
