Three weeks into the season and past Thanksgiving break, high school basketball will be pumping on all cylinders this week, highlighted by a pair of local tournaments.
Starting Thursday, Nederland High School will host its NHS Bulldog Classic with area teams such as Port Nehces-Groves, Vidor, Ozen, West Orange-Stark and Kelly joining the eight-team bracket.
Also upcoming is Central High School's James White Invitational, where area teams such as Memorial and West Brook are part of the 15-team field.
PN-G and Dickinson will tip off Nederland's tournament at 1:30 p.m. in the Dog Dome on Thursday.
Kelly and Ozen play at 3 p.m., WO-S and Vidor meet at 4:30 p.m. and Nederland hosts Home School Christian Youth Association at 6 p.m to close out the first day of action.
Over in Beaumont on Thusday, Memorial and Hamilton Christian tip off Central's tournament at 3:30 p.m. in the girl's gym.
Also in the girl's gym, Crosby and Anahuac tangle at 5 p.m. and Bellaire and Milburn Academy clasl play at 8 p.m.
In the boy's gym, FB Hightower and Legacy face off at 3:30 p.m., West Brook and Huntsville collide at 5 p.m., Central and Houston Heights play at 6:30 p.m. and Lufkin and University Park meet at 8 p.m.
Longview and a team to be named later fill out the rest of the teams in the bracket and will play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the girl's gym.
Also on tap this week in high school basketball, PN-G entertans Barber's Hill tonight at 7:30 p.m. while Nederland greets Huffman tonight at 7:30 p.m.
PN-G’s girls will travel to Kountze tonight for a 7:30 p.m. tip off and hosts Orangefield on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Nederland’s girls travel to Hardin-Jefferson tonight for a 6:30 p.m. tip off and go to Memorial on Friday for a 7 p.m. game with the Lady Titans, who are off until Friday.
Memorial’s boys are off until Thursday's contest with Hamilton Christian.
