Memorial capsule: Memorial, after a 33-16 victory over Houston Westside, is looking to go undefeated in its non-district schedule for the third straight season. The last time the Titans lost to a non-district regular season opponent was in 2009, a 24-7 loss to The Woodlands. The Titans went 3-2 that season in non-district games. …Freshman Kameron Martin got his first start at running back last week and earned his first Back of the Week honors for it. Martin gained 36 yards on six carries and has 54 yards this season. Other winners were Darius Hampton (Defensive MVP), Roderic Rucker (WR), Toan Nguyen (OL), Meldric Matthews (DL), Dante Lovilotte (LB, Special Teams), Jalen Barnes (DB, Big Hit), Gregorie Johnson (Bandit) and Melbrodrick Matthews (Special Teams). … The Titans’ defense opened the 2012 season with three straight games with an interception. That’s the first time since 2010 that the Titans have begun with a streak that long and it’s tied for the third-longest season-opening streak in school history. The 2010 team has that distinction with an interception in its first five games. … The Memorial defense is also on pace to set a school record for fewest yards allowed. This year’s Titan team is allowing just 234 yards per game. No other Memorial defense has posted a season under 250 yards per game.

Bellaire capsule: The Cardinals, also known as the Big Red, went 7-4 last season and lost in bidistrict play to Katy Cinco Ranch 59-28. Bellaire returns 10 starters from last year’s group, but only three of those are on defense. … The Cardinals also lost head coach Trey Hermann in the spring when he accepted a position with Alvin. Offensive coordinator Trey Sissom moved up into the starting gig in his first head coaching position. … Bellaire was picked by Texas Football to finish second in District 20-5A behind Houston Lamar. The Cardianls finished third last season behind Lamar and Memorial’s opponent from last week, Houston Westside. … Four of Bellaire’s seniors have already committed to colleges. Wide receiver Devin Lauderdale has committed to Texas Tech while running back Denzell Evans is committed to the University of Houston. The two Cardinal starting offensive tackles are also committed, as right tackle Dwayne Johnson is going to Purdue and left tackle Charles Sanders is heading to Texas-El Paso. Lauderdale was picked by Texas Football as the Offensive MVP from 20-5A, and has seven catches for 115 yards and two TDs this season. Evans has rushed for 284 yards and three TDs . . . Cardinals lost opener to Alief Taylor, 29-9, rebounded with a 33-27 victory over Fort Bend Travis, then fell to Manver 42-17 last week.

Harrison said: “We have to eliminate mistakes this week. We have to avoid turnovers, like we did last week, and take care of silly penalties. The defense has to continue to improve. We’re going into a really tough district, where you can’t make mistakes. (Bellaire) is big and athletic. They’ve got two good running backs and a good receiver. They’ve got good size on defense and are athletic across the board.”

Sissom said: “We’ve got a lot of young players on the defensive side. We’ve also played three really good teams so far and look to play another in Memorial. The Titans look extremely athletic and their QB (Ricky Fisk) is a catalyst for that offense. It’s going to be a chore to stop that group. Offensively, we think we match up pretty well. They’ve got a lot of skill players over there that will test us.”
