NEDERLAND —
The offense ran out for Port Arthur Memorial in the Bulldog Classic title game, as the Titans lost 44-27 to HCYA Saturday in the Gold Bracket championship.
Memorial (6-6) beat The Village 65-60 in the semifinals to reach the championship. The Titans trailed HCYA by three points after the first quarter, but saw that lead grow to nine by halftime at 22-13. HCYA continued to build its lead, as Memorial never scored in double-digits in any quarter during the title game.
HCYA ended the tournament allowing 38.5 points per game in four games.
Nederland (8-5) lost both its games on Saturday, falling 42-40 to HCYA in the semifinals and 58-48 to The Village in the third place game.
PN-G (2-7) won its Bronze Bracket semifinal game against Hamshire-Fannett 46-32 but lost to Silsbee 69-52 in the Bronze Bracket Championship game.
Memorial will host Nederland at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a non-district tuneup while PN-G will host Beaumont Kelly at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
