PORT ARTHUR — Tropical Depression #5 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Ernesto. The forecast track calls for it to move rather rapidly into the Caribbean Sea through this weekend and then slow down next week. As it slows down, the environment becomes more favorable for it to strengthen, possibly into a hurricane. By the middle of next week, this system could be in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas and Louisiana should stay abreast of this system and be prepared to act accordingly if Ernesto becomes a threat to us later next week.
