Two suspects, 11 and 17, rob Walmart

— An 11-year-old and 17-year-old were involved in a robbery Sunday afternoon at the Walmart on Twin City Hwy.

Shortly after 4 p.m. police dispatchers were informed that two young men had entered the store at 4999 Twin City Hwy and selected merchandise, according to a PAPD press release. They attempted to exit the store with the merchandise but store loss prevention personnel tried to stop them.

One suspect was able to get past the employee, while the second suspect aggressively pushed her against a wall. She suffered minor bruising as a result but was not seriously injured, and the second suspect was able to leave the store. The first suspect was seen getting into a car and leaving the scene while the second one fled on foot, according to the press release.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later. The first suspect, who was 11-years-old and from Port Arthur, was located in the vehicle. Several frozen pizzas that had taken from the store were also in the vehicle. He was detained and released to his mother, who was driving the vehicle. He was not charged and due to his age Wal-Mart did not want to prosecute him.

Officers continued the search and located the second suspect in the lobby area of Casa Ole Restaurant. It was determined that he was the 17-year-old brother of the first suspect, and had possession of video games and other property taken from the store. He was arrested for robbery and booked at the Jefferson County Jail.

• PA man shot to death Thursday night

• ’American Bandstand’ host Dick Clark has died

  Dick Clark, the television host who helped bring rock ‘n’ roll into the mainstream on “American Bandstand,” has died. He was 82.
  Spokesman Paul Shefrin says Clark died but did not provide further details. Clark had continued performing even after he suffered a stroke in 2004 that affected his ability to speak and walk.
