Update: Isaac now a category 1 hurricane

— Isaac has been upgraded to a category 1 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The hurricane is moving northwestward toward the mouth of the Mississippi River and flooding from storm surge and rainfall is expected in that area.

A hurricane warning is in effect for east of Morgan City, La. to the Alabama-Florida border including metropolitan New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas.

The National Weather Service-Lake Charles has issued a tropical storm watch for portions of the Texas and Louisiana coast just east of High Island to just west of Cameron, La. which includes southeast Texas.

A tropical storm watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area.

BREAKING NEWS: Gas line rupture in Nederland has been fixed
A 4-inch gas line in Nederland was ruptured near 12th and Atlanta at around 9:24 a.m. Tuesday. Texas Gas Company associates are on scene and have managed to shut down the leak. Nederland Fire Department is on hand as a precaution in case the gas is ignited.
Streets around the area are being blocked as a precaution.
