BASF provided Port Neches Elementary School with grants that yielded fun and equipment for the students.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Joe Arnold and BASF for the generous grants given to our school this year,” Amy Gil, principal, said. “The first grant of $4,000 was given to go towards our end-of-the-year field trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science on May 22. This field trip was made possible to our lucky fourth and fifth graders by the help of BASF and our very own Parent Teacher Association. The students were treated to the fabulous Butterfly Center, the wonderful Exhibit Halls of Science, and a movie at the IMAX Theatre titled, ‘Africa, the Serengeti.’ ”
Gil said students were in awe of the museum’s science activities.
“Also, Port Neches Elementary received a $5,000 grant from BASF to go towards the purchase of science lab materials, such as optic microscopes and science lab tables,” Gil said. “A special thanks goes out to our 5th grade science teachers: Patti Parks and Kim Taliaferro who submitted this grant. Another thanks goes out to Donna Guidry from Woodcrest Elementary who helped these two teachers out tremendously. Because of these combined efforts, our students will be exposed to great science concepts with the help of this much needed modern equipment.”
