Esther Mary Landry Babineaux

Esther Mary Landry Babineaux, 87, of Spring, Texas, formerly of Port Arthur, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Tomball, Texas. Esther was born September 29, 1924, in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Antoine Landry and Lila Girouard Landry. Esther’s family describes her as a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. Esther was a kind hearted person who never considered anyone a stranger and was known for always meeting a friend. She lovingly referred to everyone as “sugar” and always had a kind word for everyone she met. Esther was an avid reader who enjoyed all types of books. Esther was a country girl who loved the city in her later years. She enjoyed drinking coffee with friends and had Starbucks as her favorite. Esther was the Valedictorian for her graduating class of 1924 in Loreauville, Louisiana. She will be greatly missed by many and those who were close to her knew that to know her was to love her.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Loyd J. Babineaux, Sr., and her son, Loyd J. Babineaux, Jr.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Penny Block and her husband Ray of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Block, Christopher Block, John Block and great grandson, Aiden Block.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00p.m., Saturday September 8, 2012 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
