Peggy Jo Blankenship Sanford

Peggy Jo Blankenship Sanford, 75, of Port Arthur passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Mid- Jefferson Extended Care Hospital in Nederland.
She was born on September 4, 1939 to Verna Mae Rau Blankenship and Doc Spencer Blankenship in Port Arthur. Peggy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957.
She worked as the Gulf Clown for many years, a teachers aide at Wheatley, a homemaker and sold Avon for many years. She was an avid quilter, and quilting  was her passion.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert “Bobby” Eugene Sanford, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Jo Trahan of Port Arthur, her sons, Robert Eugene Sanford, Jr. of Bridge City, Kenneth Charles Sanford, Sr. of Port Neches, Andy Sanford of Port Arthur and Douglas Spencer Sanford of Madisonville, Texas along with 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Peggy is also survived by her sister, Carolyn McDuffie of Jasper, Texas, her brothers, Charles Blankenship of San Marcos, Texas, and Gerald Blankenship of Crosby, Texas as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
The family is honoring her wishes of cremation with no services. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors in Groves.
