SABINE PASS — The body of a man who drowned while fishing Tuesday in Texas Bayou, a canal near the end of South First Street near the jetties, has been identified as Beaumont resident Floyd Thomas Jr.
Thomas, 61, was pulled from the waters after a man and his son who were kayak fishing spotted a body in the water and called 9-1-1 at about 10 a.m.,
A second search is ongoing for Thomas’ son, 34 year-old Carlos Thomas, of Manor, Texas, who is believed to have been fishing with his father, and possibly drowned as well, according a press statement issued by Port Arthur police.
After an extensive search of the area Tuesday, the son was not located.
Tuesday’s search included responders on foot, in boats, as well as air craft.
The search for Carols Thomas was suspended Tuesday, but has resumed Wednesday.
PAPD initial investigations indicate there was no foul play involved, but rather a tragic accident.
