Back-to-school fashion show, props set mood for students
Students from pre-kindergarten through college traded books for clothes Saturday afternoon, modeling their back-to-school fashions in Central Mall’s first “Pep it Up” spirit rally and fashion show.
Jodie Galloway, Central Mall specialty leasing and marketing manager, said Bealls, Justice and Special 1 — all stores inside the mall — provided the clothing, while the community pitched in to provide the models.
“This is our first year to have this ‘Pep it Up’ rally, and I’m hoping to add more stores to the fashion show side of it next year,” Galloway said Saturday. “But it’s going great. We have parents and students signing up for the give-a-ways, and I’ve seen lots of selfies in the making over at our props table.”
Galloway said the rally was all about “back-to-school fun,” the mall’s way of helping set the tone for the new school year.
Students and alumni were encouraged to grab spirit poms and megaphones in their school colors to take selfies for social media.
All parents were instructed to register their students to win backpacks full of school supplies. Galloway said the mall would gift two backpacks at the end of the day, one reserved for a boy and one reserved for a girl.
Central Mall is located at 3100 FM 365 in Port Arthur.
