- The annual statewide Veterans Job Fair, “Hiring Red, White and You!” will be hosted by Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas in Port Arthur from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Bob Bowers Civic Center on Thursday, Nov. 12.
- A Veterans Day Celebration is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Ninth Avenue. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by a program, banquet with gumbo, trimmings and a guest speaker, and the honor guard. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council No. 12809 and is free to veterans, who are encouraged to wear their uniforms if they still fit into them. The public is invited to attend for a cost of $5.
- PNG ISD art teacher Mark Nesmith exhibits SE Texas inspired paintings at the Texas Artists Museum in Port Arthur. The show will run through November and visitors can meet the artists at a free to the public reception from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, Nov. 12.

- Model train exhibit, 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15, Effie and Wilton Public Library, 2025 Merriman St., Port Neches. Yesteryear’s model trains with computer-controlled motion and sound. In honor of National Model Railroad Month, members of the East Texas and Gulf Rail Modelers Association will operate modular HO-scale model trains that includes the latest diesel locomotives and vintage steam locomotives to pull fleets of club cars, grain hoppers, coal cars, and other specialized equipment. - Gulf Credit Union will host “Cars for the Cure” on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at their Groves location, 5140 West Parkway. This car show will feature antique and unusual cars, trucks and motorcycles. Vehicle entries will be registered the day of the show, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. The registration entry fee is $20 and includes a meal ticket. Goody bags will be given to the first 200 vehicles registered. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The event is also sponsored by The City Corvette Club.
- Hebert Public Library, “Spanish Conversation” class on Monday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m. at 2025 Merriman St. in Port Neches. Know some Spanish and want to practice speaking with others? Although the class was designed for “graduates” of the library’s recent Beginner Spanish class, the weekly Spanish Conversation get-together is open to anyone.
