Dovie Armintor Horton

Dovie Armintor Horton passed away on November 6, 2015 at the age of 90. She was born Sept. 4, 1925 in Port Arthur, TX and resided there until her move to Austin in 2009 to be closer to family.
Dovie is survived by her children, Bill Horton, of Austin, TX, Paul Horton and wife Shearon, of Austin, TX and Claire Broering, of Baton Rouge, LA, four grandchildren, Andrew Horton, Leah Horton, Gregory Broering and Ellen Broering. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marshall (Bill) Horton, her parents William (Bill) and Ellen Armintor, her sister, Aline Armintor Showalter, daughter-in-law Eileen Pitchford and son-in-law Leo (Dutch) Broering.
Dovie graduated from the University of Texas with a major in music. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church’s choir for many years besides teaching voice and singing in many social occasions. She was very active in the Port Arthur Concert Association for 50 years, serving as president for two terms. Dovie was active as a docent at the Museum of the Gulf Coast and especially enjoyed the school groups that came through. Her hobbies included her bridge clubs, traveling, Antique Study Club, Service League, gardening, painting and various other crafts.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22, 1:00pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy., Groves, TX.
