Beatrice Carson, 98, of Port Arthur passed away peacefully on Christmas Day 2015. Bea was born on May 31, 1917 in Port Arthur, Texas to A.J. and Clara Junot. Bea worked as a teacher and secretary at St. Mary Catholic School. She often recalled the many students she taught and enjoyed visiting with them when she saw them in the community. As a devoted Catholic, Bea was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and formally of St. Mary Catholic Church both in Port Arthur. Bea had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary and enjoyed leading the rosary at Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was also a member of both alter societies and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. One of the happiest times of her life was after World War II when she and her young twin boys followed her husband to Hawaii, where he was stationed. She was a proud military wife and thought it an honor to support her husband as he served our country in the U.S. Army. She was widowed at a young age and raised her two sons, who along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her biggest blessings. Her devotion to faith, family and country will be a legacy that her family will treasure forever.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband, Major Carl C. Carson, Sr., her siblings, Hazel Jones, Wilma Segrest and Glen Junot. She is survived by her sister, Florence Junot and brother Phillip Junot, her sons, Carl Carson, Jr. (Sandra) of Port Neches, Charles Carson, Sr. of Nederland, Grandchildren, Julie Heimendinger (Gregg) of Franklin, Tn., Anne Burrell (Donald) of Fannett, Kit Carson (Beth) of Port Neches, Chip Carson of Bridge City, and Cara Hamilton (Kip) of Nederland. She was also the loving Great Grandmother of Paige Heimendinger, Jack Heimendinger, Carson Burrell, Elizabeth Burrell, Meredith Carson, Jane Frances Carson, Brooke Hamilton and Grace Caroline Hamilton.
A visitation will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, Texas from 5-8 pm with a rosary recited at 6:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Shane Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
