June Rae Ham Greer

June Rae Ham Greer, 87, of Nederland, TX passed away on December 19, 2015, in San Antonio. She was born in Blasdell, New York, to Jefferson Davis Ham and Leora Cooksey Ham on August 26, 1928. She married her love, Charles Bruce Greer, on December 20, 1947, in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Charles was serving in the Air Force, and as a result, they made their home in many places including New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and overseas in Japan before settling in Texas. Over the years, June worked as a telephone operator and secretary. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Even when June was not feeling her best, she wanted to know how everyone else was doing.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Karl Bruce Greer; her brothers, Charles Ham, Robert Ham, and Jack Ham; and her sisters, Judy Ellison and Veronica B. Hilliker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of almost 68 years, Charles B. Greer; her daughter, Sandra F. Henderson, and husband Jerry of Colorado Springs, CO; her son, Danny R. Greer, and wife Bethany of Evans, Ga; her daughter, Charlene C. Ford, and husband Bret of Kerrville; her sister Maureen Hilliker of Silver Creek, NY; her grandchildren, Melissa Goldfinger and husband Tedd, Jason Henderson, Heather Crellin and husband Scott, Cortney Raycroft, Michael Greer and wife Sarah, and Trevor and Lance Ford; her great grandchildren, Samuel Goldfinger, Halle Henderson, Parker and Payton Raycroft; and her caregiver, Julie Turner of Nederland, TX.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 4th, 2016, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Nederland, with Reverend Francis Schroeder and Reverend David Bass officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The family of June wishes to extend a sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of Methodist Texsan Hospital in San Antonio. Also a special thanks goes to Julie Turner for her years of care and friendship. We thank you for taking such good care of our “June Bug”.
