Freddie Williams Jr. has one of the sweetest jump shots ever seen at Lamar State College-Port Arthur. None of them have been as sweet as the one he hit with 6 seconds left against Angelina College on Wednesday night.
Williams went up for the three to give the Hawks a 77-75 NJCAA Region 14 win at the Carl Parker Center, improving LSC-PA’s record to 15-8 overall and 8-5 in league play.
The Seahawks trailed by 19 points at the end of the first half, but battled back behind the inside play of Colton Weisbrod and the perimeter shooting of Williams and Jordon Harris.
Harris led all scorers with 24 points, adding seven assists, while Weisbrod added 17 points with 13 rebounds, his 16th double-double performance of the season. Williams had been slumping over the midseason stretch but broke out spectacularly against Angelina, finishing with 19 points, his best performance since early December.
The Seahawks return to conference play Saturday when Coastal Bend College comes to the Parker Center for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
