A man is dead after his vehicle plunged into a revetment on Pleasure Island Tuesday night.
Port Arthur Fire Battalion Chief Patrick Murphy said the department received the call just before 8 p.m. in reference to the wreck. The driver, he said, lost control is his vehicle and landed in a revetment on Martin Luther King Blvd near the South Levee Road. An 18-wheeler attempted to pull the vehicle out but was not successful.
The victim was seat belted in but was deceased when first responders arrived.
Murphy said they initially believed there was a second person in the vehicle and divers spent about 30 minutes searching but did not find a second victim.
