Three Lamar State College Port Arthur freshmen and a sophomore have earned first-team all-conference honors after a vote of the NJCAA Region XIV South Zone coaches.

Big-hitting freshman Perez played third base, finishing with a team-best .380 batting average, scoring 35 runs with 62 runs batted in. Her 18 home runs obliterated an LSCPA school record.

Sanchez was named to the team as a designated player. She hit .327 with 14 doubles and 17 runs batted in, while Sheridan made the team as an outfielder after hitting .327 with 15 RBI, seven doubles and five triples.

Hernandez was named to the first team as a utility player. In her second season with the Seahawks, she hit .354 with a team-best 19 doubles. She crossed the plate 45 times, also a team high, and had 25 RBI.

Sophomore short stop Sierra Miller earned second-team honors on the all-South Zone squad. Miller hit .367 with 10 doubles and six home runs. She had 38 RBI and a team-best 32 walks.

The Seahawks head to the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament this Thursday in Pasadena after finishing in third place in the South Zone standings. The Hawks take on Angelina College at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday in the first round. Should LSCPA win its first game of the double-elimination tournament, it would play again Friday at 5:30 against the winner of the first-round game between Paris College and Galveston College. A loss by LSCPA on Thursday would send the Seahawks to a 12:30 p.m. game Friday against the loser of the Paris College/Galveston College game.
