Marcel James Walker

Marcel James Walker, 55, departed this world on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX. Entering this life on December 24, 1960 at Port Arthur, TX, during his early childhood he attended Catholic Schools and was involved in many sports. He was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1979. Marcel matriculated at Grambling State University and Prairie View A&M University and subsequently Lamar University where he was conferred the Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Marcel began his career in education, serving for several years in the Beaumont ISD working with Special Needs students, mentoring and nurturing them. Most recently he began a new career with Spindletop MHMR in a similar position. However, Marcel was known for his second profession as he touched the souls of many through his musical entertainment as a Disc Jockey and his Christian commitment as Audio and Video technician at his beloved New Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, 1:00 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Donald Ray Frank officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the professional services and care of Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his loving wife Viveca Walker; parents, Peter and Tonia Ann Walker; daughter, Devin Archbold (Michael) of McKinney, TX; son, Marcus Walker of Port Arthur; grandson, Micah Archibold; step-daughters Roysaeshia Anderson, step-grandchildren Keyona and Elianah; step-sons Bryan and Brandon Hunt and Jacody Boone; brothers, Walter T. James, Sr. (Mary) of Houston; Herbert James, Jr. of Port Arthur; sisters, Mable James Francis (Peter); Lillian Denise James and Rev. Vickie James Jacquet (Jonathan I) all of Port Arthur and a multitude of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
