NEDERLAND — A Silver Alert has been issued for a Nederland man.
The alert was issued shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday for Thomas Collins, 84, who suffers from dementia due to a brain injury. The missing man is the father of Nederland Fire Chief Gary Collins.
Chief Collins last spoke with his father around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon and had went to check on him around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and noticed his father and his father’s truck were missing.
This was cause for a red flag because his family had taken his keys, Nederland Police Sgt. Cody Corkram said.
Neighbors told the fire chief they had seen a wrecker truck at the elder man’s home around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officials believe the elderly man may have had the wrecker bring his truck to a dealership so more keys could be made.
Thomas Collins is a white male, 6-foot 1-inches in height, 190 pounds with grey hair and blue eyes.
His truck is a silver 2006 Ford F150 with Texas license plate CBW 2294.
Anyone with information about Thomas Collins’ whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.
